It’s no wonder people love living in Overland Park–the OP, as it’s referred to locally. In Overland Park, you have all the same amenities and entertainment of a large metro area, without the traffic and congestion.
We recommend checking out the Oak Park Mall, the Museum at Prairie Fire, and Aubrey Vineyards. If you enjoy the outdoors, you’ll find no shortage of parks in OP–we have many, including the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, Shawnee Mission Park, and Antioch Park. To read more about all of the parks and recreation in Johnson County, visit the county’s website. One of our favorite annual events is the Fall Festival, which features a parade, arts and crafts fair, and lots of food and fun!
Overland Park’s school districts are some of the very best in the state. Blue Valley ISD is a tip-top-rated public school system, where your children will have every academic and athletic opportunity they could hope for.
Like to eat out? Look no further. OP offers some of the very best dining in the entire KC area. YaYa’s is one of our favorites, and RedRock Canyon Grill for sure makes the list too.
Last, but certainly not least, if you happen to work for Black & Veatch…their global HQ is in OP too. You definitely won’t be lacking in business lunch spots!
Whether you like to shop, eat, run, bike, or all of the above, you’ll find it in Overland Park. It happens to also be in the ever popular Johnson County, yet another feather in its cap. Johnson County is THE place to live in Kansas City, which makes it very familiar to surrounding areas. You’ll hear people say, “Ohhh, you live in Johnson County…” with a certain swanky tone to their voice. It’s popular for good reason, after all. It is a master-planned county, with development led by J.C. Nichols, covering 476 square miles that used to be part of the Shawnee Indian Reservation. For a more detailed history, click here. It was zoned exceedingly well, ensuring that the layout makes sense and is organized in a way that serves residents appropriately. It’s also home to the top three school districts in the whole state of Kansas. You read that right–state. Outside of the K-12 scene, there’s also Johnson County Community College (a very highly-espoused junior college) and the University of Kansas–Edwards Campus. Everything good about Kansas City can be found in Johnson County, and we invite you to let us show you around anytime.
